Why is radon particularly a problem in Regina?

Soil around Regina is naturally higher in uranium, which produces radon.

Homes here are more tightly built (better insulation, less natural ventilation) which means radon has less way to escape.

Long, cold winters increase “stack effect” (warm air rising inside draws air—and radon—from soil under foundation).
